ALLEN Durham fails to rally Meralco to victory over TNT KaTropa in Game 3 of their PBA Governors’ Cup best-of-five semifinals series.
TNT KaTropa shoots for the jugular when it battles Meralco in Game 4 of their Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup best-of-five semifinal showdown today at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Game time is at 6:30 p.m. with the KaTropa looking to return to the finals for a shot at the crown that eluded them in the Commissioner’s Cup with Terrence Jones as import.
Game 3 was a match to remember for the KaTropa.
They managed to address their problems in Game 2 as they moved the ball well, tallying 22 assists with only nine turnovers, thanks to the contributions of Troy Rosario, Jayson Castro and RR Pogoy.

Rosario starred with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting while Castro had 17 points and 10 assists for the KaTropa, who also drew explosive performance on a more focussed Pogoy.
Pogoy, who got involved in “pinching incident” with Baser Amer in Game 2, kept his focus as he notched 15 points and eight rebounds while import KJ McDaniels finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds.
TNT KaTropa head coach Bong Ravena said their strong start yielded a handsome reward.
“We cannot afford to have another slow start like what we had in Game 2,” Ravena said.
“We have to start strong because, for sure, our opponent won’t be sloppy. It’s a very important game, hopefully, we’ll play with the same kind of intensity in Game 4.”
On the other hand, Meralco was left fighting for dear life.
Allen Durham had 32 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists while Chris Newsome and Amer chipped in 20 and 19 markers, respectively.
Meralco coach Norman Black said they should display the killer mindset they had in Game 2 for them to turn things around.
“It’s almost similar to Game 2. We have to win because if we don’t, we’ll go to vacation,” Black said.
“So we’ll treat it as the same situation — a must-win game. As long as we remain positive and stay together, we have a good chance.”
Black also rued their mishaps in the second half, which greatly hurt their bid after being in control for most part of the first half.
“The game was not won in the first half. That’s the problem. Teams also made adjustments.”
“We played a good first half, but if you don’t continue that in the second half, it doesn’t really mean much so we have to be more consistent and play for 48 minutes instead of 24.”
