DoLE urges labor researches

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) on Sunday called for the conduct of more researches amid changes in the world of labor brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In a statement, the DoLE stressed the importance of thorough and sound research as basis for developing and implementing labor and employment policies and programs specially in this period of technological advancements, artificial intelligence, and robotics which is changing the way humans work.

Labor Undersecretary Ana Dione said that although the Fourth Industrial Revolution “is a major challenge of our time, how we deal with it, how we adapt to it, and how we harness its positive potential, will shape the future of work.”

Highlighting the importance of evidence-based policies, Dione added that the department “can only craft effective and responsive policies and programs based on sound research, informed analysis, and quality social dialogue.”
