Bukidnon will have a Malasakit Center soon to improve the residents’ access to quality healthcare services, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go announced Friday before local officials and residents of Kibawe, Bukidnon during their 64th annual town fiesta.
With health as one of such priorities, Go said that a plan to put up a Malasakit Center in the province is already in the works .
“May plano na po tayong magtayo ng Malasakit Center dito sa inyong probinsya ng Bukidnon sa susunod na taon,” said Go. “Nag-usap na kami ni Senator Migz Zubiri. Magbubukas tayo ng Malasakit Center dito sa inyo para hindi na ninyo kailangang bumiyahe sa Cagayan de Oro, Misamis o Davao.”
Malasakit Centers are a one-stop shop for easy access to government medical financial assistance for Filipinos in need, especially indigent patients. Representatives from the Department of Health (DoH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) are stationed at the center.
A law institutionalizing Malasakit Centers has also been signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, 3 December that provided for the establishment of such centers in all 73 DoH-run hospitals nationwide.
