The Philippine team started its bid on a strong note in the men’s 9-ball doubles as two Filipino pairs marched to the semifinals of the 30th Southeast Asian Games at The Manila Hotel Tent on Tuesday.
Team 1 composed of Carlo Biado and Johann Chua routed the Indonesian duo of Jefry Zen and Irsal Afrinneza Nasution, 9-3, while Warren Kiamco and Jeffrey Ignacio escaped with a 9-8 win over Brunei Darussalam’s Ahmad Taufiq Murni and Muhammad Azim Abu Bakar.
“Ang dami ko nang sinalihan pero dito talaga ako (I’ve already joined many tournaments but this is where I got) pressured the most,” Kiamco said.
It will be an all-Philippine final if the Filipino duos hurdle their semifinal foes.
