SAN JOSE, Romblon — This island-municipality is fast becoming a favorite destination of European tourists — ranking fourth among the foreigners who visited this town during the past 10 months.
Lealyn Pablo, San Jose Municipal Tourism Officer, attributed the increasing number of Europeans visiting their town to the rising investments in the area.
Pablo said that European tourists are now ranked fourth in the tourism arrivals in their town behind Chinese, South Koreans and local guests.
San Jose town, also known as Carabao Island, is located only 30 minutes away by boat from the island paradise of Boracay.

The town boasts of white sand beaches and various eco-cultural activities.
“For this year, we already registered 30,000 foreign and local tourists. The highest is Chinese, followed by South Korea, third were domestic tourists and fourth Europeans,” she said.
Last year, only 18,000 tourists were registered.
For his part, San Jose Mayor Ronnie Samson said he already received information from European investors who are considering the town as their retirement home.
“We also received proposals to build a casino in this island,” he added.
Atty. Claribelle Jane Alfeche, chief executive officer of the Oceans Edge Resort, revealed an expansion plan by the newly formed British-Filipino Company.
“We are planning to build ten more resorts in the countryside in the next few years,” she said.
