Road Warriors’ head coach Yeng Guiao said the defeat put their feet back on the ground after a sizzling 8-1 start as the Road Warriors are already assured of a twice-to-beat advantage in the next phase of the tournament.
“That’s a nice way to put it. Our path would only get tougher and it’s good to learn our lessons early rather than when you get to the quarterfinals or semifinals that’s where you will learn the weaknesses of your game,” Guiao said.
“We know that we still have a lot of weaknesses in our game. We had a five-game winning streak and, at some point, that streak has to end. In this game, NorthPort wanted it more.”
Guiao admitted that Batang Pier’s energy was superior than them and the setback opened their eyes about the things they need to work on to achieve their goal.

Those numbers showed their tendency to relax after achieving the first part of their objective, which is to secure a spot in the top four.
“Sometimes when you’re on top, you feel like you’re good enough. You feel like you’ve done enough work. But we haven’t really done that. We want to look at this game in a positive way even if we lost,” Guiao said.
“We have learned more in this game than even if we would have won it, If we had won this game. We will only learn a little bit. But now, will take home more lessons from this loss.”
The Road Warriors have one game left against Alaska and Guiao is looking to have his team finish its elimination round campaign on a winning note to secure the No. 1 seed in the quarters.
