LG Philippines claims 25 percent electricity savings.
Air-conditioning is integral to everyday life in the Philippines, owing to its tropical climate that can get blazing hot at times.
But with the prohibitive electricity cost in the country, ranked a poor 92nd in the Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), air-conditioning may not be an option for many households.
Not for businesses and commercial establishments though as they have to provide air-conditioning to their customers and clients or risk losing them to competitors.
The challenge, clearly, for these businesses is to procure AC units that are energy efficient, easy to maintain and are durable since installing commercial air-conditioning (CAC) is labor-intensive.

Recently, LG Philippines unveiled its latest line of CAC products which, it claimed, offers “high-efficiency and cost-effective solution” perfect for restaurants, offices and stores.
The units unveiled included floor-standers, ceiling-mounted cassette, one-way ceiling cassette, ceiling suspended and ceiling-concealed duct.
All variants boast of LG’s R1 compressor and smart inverter technology, which lower noise floor by 4 decibels, reduce weight by 20 percent and offer electricity savings of up to 25 percent compared to old-tech, on-off AC.
“A five-step air cleaning feature reduces maintenance costs and makes upkeep simple and fuss-free. In terms of performance, it has a wide operation range as low as -15°C and as high as 48°C outdoor temperature,” LG Philippines said in a statement.
Inkwun Heo, Managing Director of LG Electronics in the Philippines said their sales in the Philippines have grown significantly spurred by their air-conditioning innovations.
