Victims of a fire that gutted houses on Kaunlaran Street, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City last 3 November got a lull from their anguish of becoming homeless when Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go visited them on Tuesday.

“Kahit saang sulok po ng Pilipinas, pupuntahan ko po kayo hanggang sa makakaya ko para magbigay ng tulong at mag-iwan ng ngiti sa oras ng inyong pagdadalamhati,” Go told the 30 displaced families as he distributed grocery packs and cash assistance to them and listened to their requests.

The Senator went straight to the fire victims after attending the opening of the Malasakit Center at the Philippine Heart Center (PHC). He was joined by Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Housing Authority and Department of Trade and Industry representatives who will assist the victims in getting a new home and livelihood.

Meanwhile, the Malasakit Center at the PHC is the 48th in the country. The centers are one-stop shops where patients or their representatives can apply for financial assistance from PhilHealth, DSWD, Department of Health and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
