The cabinet official also claimed the Duterte administration is confident the projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program will be completed within the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday said it will add new projects to its original 75 flagship infrastructure program under the “Build, Build, Build” banner which will be rationalized to manage viability and expectations.
“There are projects there that were initially included but when the study came out (were) not that feasible so we are going to revise some of the projects,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar told reporters in Caloocan City.
Villar said the new infrastructure project list will add 45 new projects.

Earlier, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said three big-ticket bridge projects were dropped as “unfeasible” due to financial and technical constraints.
These projects include the 18.2-kilometer Sorsogon-Samar bridge, the 23-kilometer Leyte-Surigao bridge and 24.5-kilometer Cebu-Bohol bridge.
Despite their removal, the Duterte administration is adding smaller projects to the 75-flagship list — making more or less 100 the total number of projects in the list.
The NEDA said it is set to approve this week the revised list of infrastructure projects targeted for completion within President Duterte’s term.
“I can’t go to the details right now, but initially it’s 100. At this point, it’s 100 (more or less). More on the less rather than the more because I’m expecting scrutiny of the list by the economic managers,” Undersecretary Jonathan Uy, NEDA’s officer in charge for Investment Programming said on Monday.
Likewise, the DPWH chief did not disclose details of what projects will be added to the flagship infrastructure list.
“We will release the new list to manage the expectation and to identify which will be completed before the (president’s) term ends. In this way, we will also know which are economically viable,” the cabinet official further said.
After the revision, the NEDA said the budget allocation for the projects now stands at P4.7 trillion until 2022, smaller by P3.5 trillion from the original P8.2 trillion proposed for the program.
NEDA’s Investment Coordination Committee is scheduled to meet this week to discuss the updated list of projects.
