BAGUIO CITY — Employees of the Baguio City Hall are giddy over reported plans of City mayor Benjamin Magalong to provide a shuttle bus to and from work to alleviate their commuting traffic woes.

The bus was donated by the Victor Bus Lines to the city government as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The turn-over of the bus was done at the Baguio City Hall Grounds. Magalong received the key from the representative of Victory Liner.

The bus, which was entrusted to the General Service Office (GSO) will be added to the coaster being used as service vehicle for different city hall related activities and services to the residents who need assistance.

Magalong said that he is leaving it to the GSO and other officials to come up with a plan where the 49-seater bus will serve as a service vehicle to employees who need ride coming to and from work.This, he says,will be of a great help to employees who are rendering services to the people of Baguio.

However, GSO chief Eugene Buyucan said that it still depends on how to define or identify the definite purpose of the bus. He said that making the bus as service for the employees may create problem as it is prohibited for government employees or officials to use government properties and funds for personal consumption.

Buyucan said the employees are expected to report for work as they receive salaries from the taxes of the people. He said that the bus can be used for official functions. He said that it can serve the employees in times of emergency perhaps.
