BONTOC, Mountain Province — The Municipality of Bontoc, Mountain Province takes pride as its local government unit (LGU) was adjudged Hall of Famer in the Most Outstanding Accounting Office given by the Association of Government Accountants of the Philippines (AGAP).

It is the only LGU in the country to be recognized as such.

Along with the Accounting Offices of the Provincial Government of Albay and City Government of Danao, Cebu, Bontoc LGU was awarded for three consecutive years from 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The AGAP gives recognition to accounting offices of LGU, National Government Agencies and Government Owned and Controlled Corporations for quality, timely, accurate and complete Financial Reports.

The awardees are chosen yearly by AGAP based on the recommendations made by the Commission on Audit (CoA).

Bontoc mayor Franklin Odsey, who personally received the award together with the personnel of the Municipal Accounting Office, commended the latter for ensuring a smooth flow of financial transactions in the municipal government.

Municipal Accountant Yolanda Comafay said that they are humbled by the award, adding that they will continue to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. “We hope that we have uplifted the morale of our co-employees to work at their best, too,” she added.

During the awarding ceremonies, it was mentioned that there were 45 accounting offices endorsed by the CoA, but 41 have passed the standards of the AGAP.
