China is donating 3 million renminbi (roughly P22 million) for victims of the series of powerful earthquakes that rocked parts of Mindanao early this week.
The Chinese Embassy in Manila announced this Friday as part of its humanitarian aid to help residents return to normal life.
“The Chinese government expresses its deepest sympathy to those affected families and decided to donate 3 million RMB through the Embassy in the Philippines to aid the victims and support the disaster relief efforts by the Philippine government in Mindanao,” the Embassy said.
“China believes that, under the strong leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the government of the Philippines, the Philippine people will overcome the disaster and rebuild their homeland as soon as possible,” it added.
Two days after a 6.6 magnitude earthquake shook North Cotabato on 29 October, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Mindanao anew, bringing to more than a dozen the number of fatalities.
