The Philippines picked a seat in Group C of the men’s division of the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament to be held in India, March next year.
The Filipinos were pooled with opponents from Slovenia, France, Qatar, and Dominican Republic in the seeding held in Utsonomiya, Japan on Friday.
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio expressed elation that the country was included in the qualifiers.
“(The) 3×3 (competition) is an area where Filipino basketball players can really excel and we’re delighted that a Filipino basketball team will get to test their skills against the world’s best,” Panlilio said.
A total of 23 teams in the men’s and women’s divisions will battle for the three tickets for the 3×3 tournament of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
