Jerwin Ancajas retained his word title without throwing a single punch.
International matchmaker Sean Gibbons, president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, announced that the scheduled International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight match between Ancajas and Jonathan Javier Rodriguez at the Dignity Health Sport Park in Carson, California had been called off.
Gibbons said the fight hit a snag after the Mexican challenger encountered visa issues and was unable to complete his required medical documents on time.

The match was supposed to happen on Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila), but the fight week came and not a single member of Rodriguez’s team managed to show up.
In fact, Ancajas is already in tip-top shape and easily made the weight, beating the 115-pound limit by registering 114.8 pounds following a light workout Wednesday night.
Ancajas expressed disappointment, but tried to stay calm despite knowing that his three-month preparation went down the drain without breaking a single bead of sweat.
“I’m happy because I managed to reach my fighting weight,” said the 27-year-old Ancajas, who has a glowing record of 21 wins, one loss and two draws.
“But I’m a little disappointed because all of my sacrifices in training for the past three months went for naught.”
Amid this gloomy and messy situation, however, a ray of sunshine dawned on Ancajas and his team.
Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum, who holds the rights on Ancajas’ next two bouts, informed his chief trainer Joven Jimenez that they are cooking up his next fight on 7 December in Puebla, Mexico.
No names have been mention, but there’s still a chance that it would be against Rodriguez again, giving the Filipino slugger a chance to settle their unfinished business.
After all, Rodriguez is also in tremendous shape after rendering contender Felipe Orucuta comatose in their previous match on 7 June.
“We were told that there might be a fight in December,” Ancajas said.
“I’m okay to fight anytime, anywhere. My job is to fight so I will just climb the ring and fight.”
Jimenez said they have yet to decide if they would return home or just stay in the United States to resume their training.
But the only certainty in their schedule is that they’re going to have a mini-party with Ancajas, assistant trainer Fernando Parcon, cutman Todd Makelim and dietician Jeaneth Aro.
