The Chinese government on Friday extended a helping hand to the victims of the earthquake that hit parts of Mindanao the past days, saying that it will donate 3 million RMB or around P22 million to Mindanao.

This, as the southern regions reeled from a series of earthquakes that struck in October.

In a statement, the Chinese government, through its embassy in Manila, also expressed its deepest sympathies to affected families in Mindanao, where several have been killed and dozens hurt in three major quakes that struck in a span of 16 days.

The Chinese mission said its aid aims to help victims and “support the disaster relief efforts by the Philippine government in Mindanao and help local residents return to normal life.”

“China believes that, under the strong leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the government of the Philippines, the Philippine people will overcome the disaster and rebuild their homeland as soon as possible,” said the Chinese Embassy in Manila.
