It was you who said it was a failure. Now that the job is on offer, you are scared to take it on, because you don’t know how to run

Political desperation appears to be gnawing at the yellows for the opposition legislators to now want President Duterte to step down and let Vice President Leni Robredo — who has virtually admitted that she knew nothing about handling the drug problem in answer to the offer of the President for her to lead the drug war — run the government.

The yellows must be so worried that the Supreme Court, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, may just come to the conclusion that Bongbong Marcos is the real winner of the 2019 vice-presidential race, else why would the yellows come up with the cry for Duterte to step down and have Leni run the government for the next three years?

It is becoming clearer that the yellows have awakened to the high probability that they will be completely out of the political picture once 2022 comes around, because, of course, their yellow vice president, appears so clueless over governance and in the running of government. If truth be told, Leni has zero experience in government, as she was just thrust into Congress due to the death of her husband, then thrust again into the vice presidency due to the fact that the yellow president, Noynoy Aquino, failed to get the candidate he wanted for the party’s bet for the vice presidency to form a tandem with the Liberal Party standard bearer, Mar Roxas.

Leni, as a House representative, hardly did anything by way of legislation and even any privileged speeches or interpellations. And as vice president, thanks to the magical ways of Smartmatic, she was offered a Cabinet post by Duterte, which she screwed up quickly, as she just didn’t seem to know how to handle her post, since she started hitting out at Duterte publicly, which is not how a Cabinet member is expected to behave.

Whatever differences there are in policies, all these should first be brought up in private and in Cabinet meetings. If there are continued policy disagreements in private, then the Cabinet member should resign.

Not so with Leni, who appears to be taking advice from the yellows on what she should do next. This is probably the reason why she refused to give an immediate answer to the offer of Duterte for her to run his war on drugs, especially since she claimed it was a failure.

“If there is no failure of the drug war, why would they pass it to me? Because you are only going to hand over a project once you can no longer fulfill it. If it is successful, there is no need to pass it over, because you have already done it well,” she was quoted by the media.

“But if you are going to pass it, isn’t that an admission that you still have a lot to do?” she added.

But didn’t Leni just say that she never said the drug war was a failure, and what she meant was for the drug war just to be tweaked?

Leni appeared to take time to fire back at her critics, then asked why Duterte was willing to let her lead his drug war if the campaign had really been successful. Hello. It was she who claimed that the President’s war on drugs was a failure, which was the reason he offered her the job of a drug czarina. Now she comes up with her usual illogic of claiming that if the drug war campaign were successful, then why, she says, make her run his war on drugs?

Duh, Leni. It was you who said it was a failure. Now that the job is on offer, you are scared to take it on, because you don’t know how to run it — or anything else in government.

Leni still has not formally responded to Duterte’s offer of a job as his drug czarina, as she said she would respond to the President’s proposal, if he were serious. But then she quickly tossed it aside, saying that an offer made by text was disrespectful of her vice-presidential office. Oops. It may not even be really hers.

Leni and her yellows are willing to do everything and use anything to get Duterte out of office, and for her to take the throne before 2022, since she and the opposition know that her chance of winning the presidency is nil. The yellow days of power are over, or haven’t they realized it yet?

They can’t even be truthful by admitting that neither Leni nor her yellows have messed up the drug problem during their days in power.
