His birthday wish is to be blessed with twins, soon.
This was what House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano expressed as he celebrated his 49th birthday yesterday, adding that the possibility of a 15-month term sharing on the House speakership with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco would be the perfect opportunity for him and his wife Lani to become parents.
“Yes. Praying for twins soon. I think any couple would hope for that, to have a family and care for a family,” Cayetano said after attending the Monday flag raising ceremony at the House of Representatives.
The House Speaker also said the possible term sharing with Velasco on the speakership that the House of Representatives agreed on would be the right time for this wish to be granted.

He added that while the House has approved this arrangement, he is honoring it unless Velasco says otherwise. But he also leaves it a bit to divine intervention.
“If it’s God’s will, that might be the chance that we could have time to focus on each other,” he said.
Aside from his personal birthday wish, Cayetano also wishes for the approval of measures that will give Filipinos safe and comfortable lives as promised by President Rodrigo Duterte.
He said the President is aware of the struggles of Filipinos whether it is about those who are currently jobless, uprooting themselves and looking for work elsewhere while leaving their family in the country, the ever-present traffic situation, or even those who have jobs but are earning very little.
“We want to solve all of that. But we have to focus, so we want the House to be very productive, and to pass these measures that become effective in a shorter period of time,” Cayetano said.
He added that the traffic problem was one of the priority issues he wants to address despite it being too big a problem to deal with easily.
“People can’t wait. While it’s valid to say that the (proposed) subway will take 10 years [to build], what can we do in the meantime to alleviate the traffic?” he said.
“So, that’s my wish as a public servant and then for us as a couple, of course, we also have wishes for our family,” he added.
