The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Tuesday said that it has deployed over 4,000 policemen to key terminals and cemeteries in Metro Manila two days before the expected exodus of passengers for the All Saints and All Souls Day holidays.
In a radio interview, NCRPO chief Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas said that they will place police assistance desks in terminals – especially in Cubao – and major cemeteries in the metro to ensure the safety of the public.
Sinas added that he will declare full alert on 30 October and stressed that the police is closely coordinating with other stakeholders in ensuring public safety during the holidays, such as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
He acknowledged that efforts to check on the bus drivers’ ability make long trips to provinces are important.
Sinas also noted that drivers who will test positive for illegal drug use may face suspension while the results of confirmatory tests are pending.
