The bad news for Millennials is that they have to contend with burdensome college debts, costly real estate, high cost of insurance and difficulty in getting high paying jobs that they may not necessarily like.
The good news though is that the generation will only have to be patient to inherit over $68 trillion from their Baby Boomer patients by 2030, by which time many in that generation would have died.
Citing a study, Forbes said that the inheritance will “represent one of the greatest wealth transfers in the modern times” and will make Millennials “one of the richest groups ever.”
Fast-changing times have made the situation of Millennials more difficult than their parents, claimed the study, underscoring the wealth gap between the generations.
There are at present just 618,000 Millennial millionaires in the United States, representing two percent of the population, according to the survey by WealthEngine data.
The net worth of the Millennial millionaires ranged from $1 million to $2.4 million and their ages fall between 34 and 37.
Baby Boomers had the luxury of safe and well-paying jobs and many benefitted in the meteoric rise of the stock market through the years.
“The difference between the millionaires of the early 1980s and the ones being created today is that many of them stand to inherit even more wealth from their Baby Boomer parents, who are considered the wealthiest generation in history,” said the study.
Housing is probably the biggest issue affecting people the world over.
