NLEX and SCTEX expect to service daily 350,000 motorists during the coming holiday.
The Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) yesterday expressed its readiness for the expected 10 percent increase in traffic volume on All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, assuring its customers of better services for their convenience.
According to the MPTC, the influx of motorists may start on 31 October or even earlier and closer monitoring of traffic operations will be implemented on North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) toll plazas where a 15 percent increase in traffic volume is expected.
This would translate to 200,000 motorists daily in Cavitex and up to 350,000 in NLEX and SCTEX during the Undas holidays.
MPTC chief financial officer Christopher Daniel C. Lizo said they once again activated their “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” campaign to assist motorists and provide quick response to emergency calls.

Lizo said the MPTC continues to innovate at the expressways to boost customer experience especially that the observation of Undas has always become a chaotic scene at almost all hubs of public terminals and transportation.
“We expect Thursday afternoon to be the start of the surge. If and when 31 October is declared a holiday, then the surge will start earlier and may start on Wednesday afternoon,” said Atty. Romulo Quimbo Jr., MPTC chief communications officer.
The MPTC also vowed to shorten the waiting time of motorists and avoid traffic buildup by opening a maximum of 24 collection points at Balintawak toll plaza from 26 October to 2 November 2019.
Toll plazas in Mindanao Avenue, Tarlac and Tipo will operate with a maximum of 10, 15, and six collection points, respectively, while Manila-bound motorists will be provided with 55 collection points at the Bocaue toll barrier from 1 to 4 November.
The MPTC added that all construction projects along the mainline roads of NLEX, SCTEX and Cavitex will be suspended from 24 October to 4 November.
Real-time traffic situation will be posted on the Facebook accounts of NLEX Corporation and CAVITEX (Official) from 30 October to 4 November.
