Even the staging of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games is not exempted from the monstrous traffic. Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) chairman Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano made an ocular inspection at the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac and stressed that everything is now ready for the country’s hosting of the prestigious biennial meet set from 30 November to 11 December. The only problem, however, is the massive traffic that delegates are tipped to suffer in the entire duration of the meet. “Our challenge here is day to day,” said Cayetano, who led the inspection together with Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino and Bases Conversion and Development Authority chief Vince Dizon. “It’s not a joke to host 12,000 athletes and coaches, 1,000 local and international media and almost 15,000 volunteers and spectators who will take part of the SEA Games.” Cayetano said with the main venue finally complete, he hopes that sports will enjoy a higher funding for next year. “We are so inspired by these facilities because it proves the point of our athletes that with more support, we can have a world-class sport program,” the Taguig lawmaker said. “I am so happy that Senator Bong Go and other senators like my sister, Pia, are in the Senate because I know for sure that the budget for sports will not be cut and would be even increased.”
