CARLOS Yulo reigned supreme in the floor exercises.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar today hailed the “talent and determination” showed by Carlos Yulo in bagging a gold medal in the 49th FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.
“Not only has he done the sport of gymnastics in the Philippines proud, Yulo has also done his country proud by being the first Filipino to win a gold medal in the event,” Andanar said.
“It is truly a historic event and we celebrate Yulo’s win with all our fellow Filipinos. We expect great things from this talented young man at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics,” added the Palace official.
Yulo ruled the men’s floor exercise late Saturday in Stuttgart, Germany, scoring 15.3 points to upend Artem Dolgopyat of Israel (15.200) and China’s Xiao Ruoteng (14.933).
The 19-year-old Filipino has qualified for the Olympics.
