Suite pleasures

My suite had a very luxurious feel, the living area serving as an anteroom to an elegant bedroom that has a walk-in toilet and bath with a jacuzzi pool.

Medley Buffet had an overload of Chinese, Filipino, American, Japanese, delicacies, among other national culinary offerings.

If you’re a first timer and are too shy to ask around for directions, you probably will need a compass. I am not sure there’s an app that is exclusively used by Okada guests, but if there is none, do not worry. The staff is very friendly and they even offer you a ride around the hotel in a golf cart. That is how large this hotel is.

Far from the madding crowd only because it is almost at the edge of the Entertainment City, Okada Manila is an integrated resort where one can play, dine or merely relax by staying in one’s suite and making the most of one’s staycation.

I had a chance to do exactly the last, almost not leaving my suite, which I won as a raffle prize. The suite where I stayed overlooks the Fountain which is a grand spectacle of colors and music, and a crowd-drawer, bringing in families who come just to watch this night show of dancing waters, the largest probably in Asia or, at least this side of the earth.

While Okada is a bit far, it has continuous bus shuttle service that picks up guests, players and weekend spectators in front of SM Department Store in the Mall of Asia.

I was lucky in that a large desk stands in a corner of the living room which, in my case, served as a writing desk. Actually, if you’re a tycoon or a top executive who needs to meet people, you don’t have to go down to the dining places, but instead just receive your guests here.

Breakfast was at Medley Buffet where I had an overload of Chinese, Filipino, American, Japanese, delicacies, among other national culinary offerings. The bread was fresh and delicious, the various soup hot, the fruit varied, and the chefs and food attendants, pleasant and smiling.

On my way out, I bought some freshly baked bread at the Pastry Shop at the lobby lounge. Indeed, a good way to cap my stay in this iconic integrated resort. I must return, I tell myself, in the company of someone who appreciates the good life.
