Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso gave Isetann Cinerama Complex on C. M. Recto Avenue 72 hours to explain why a stolen cell phone was being sold by one of its lessee stall owners or face possible closure.

Domagoso made the announcement after a receiving a complaint from a student in Manila who is determined to file charges against the stall owner who was selling her phone.

The victim was able to track her unit to a stall in Isetann after activating its global positioning system feature.

The mayor charged Maj. Rizalino Ibay, head of the Special Mayor’s Reaction Team, to compel the mall’s administration to answer why it failed to abide by a directive not to sell stolen units despite a previous warning.

In her letter, the student said, “It is quite irritating that this mall had been warned not to contract lessee stall holders who engage in selling second-hand cellular phones in an attempt to curb the rampant snatching of mobile phones in the city victimizing helpless young people, mostly students in the city.”

Domagoso said what annoyed him most was that the mall administration told the victim to no longer report the incident.

“Don’t report anymore to the police because your cell phone has already been returned,” he read from the victim’s letter.
