A car in Quezon City was totally destroyed when a tree collapsed on it.
The driver and bystanders were lucky that none of them were injured in the incident, which happened along Sct. Limbaga just a few moments before midnight,
Residents said there was no reason for the tree to fall, since it wasn’t raining nor was there a strong wind in the vicinity.
The front part of the vehicle was smashed.
Ricky Arellano of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) said the tree was already rotten and its roots no longer dug deep into the ground.
“That’s why even with a light wind, the tree could have fallen,” Arellano explained.
It is estimated that the tree is already 30 years old.
The QCDRRMO also is having a hard time clearing the area because it snagged on a live wire. They were waiting for linemen from Meralco to clear the power lines before they dismantle the tree.
