Like her father who eventually gravitated towards action films, Angela is also being identified with the genre with her recent casting in the drama-action series, Beautiful Justice.

The emerging lead stars of GMA Artist Center are not the only ones to watch out for.

There are plenty of diamonds in the rough among the supporting cast members of the some of the Kapuso network’s most popular shows.

Angela Alarcon, Faye Lorenzo and Erin Ocampo are just three of the emerging young actresses that are now being given the chance to shine alongside their respective shows’ prominent leads. Together with Jon Lucas, Ysabel Ortega and Anjo Damiles, Angela, Faye and Erin were formally introduced by the network to the entertainment media.

Angela is the daughter of seasoned actor Jestoni Alarcon who himself started in GMA as a mainstay of the youth-oriented variety show, That’s Entertainment. Like her father who eventually gravitated towards action films, Angela is also being identified with the genre with her recent casting in the drama-action series, Beautiful Justice.

“The series is very action-packed and aside from acting, will also test our physical abilities and I’m very excited about this,” enthused the 22-year old actress who, in addition to being a cum laude graduate from the University of the Philippines, also happens to be a black belter in taekwondo.

In an interview with the Daily Tribune, Angela said she is also equally excited about her role as Chloe, the best friend of Gabbi Garcia’s lead character, Brie.

“We’re still in the process of exploring my character and what audiences will initially see is my strong friendship with Gabbi in the series but I do hope I’ll also be given some action scenes so I can also use my training in taekwondo to my advantage,” she shared.

As for being the daughter of Jestoni, Angela admits to being “more motivated than pressured” as her dad, who is very happy and supportive of her entertainment career, has advised her “to simply stay calm, polish her talents and remain focused on her work.”

“I’m currently undergoing more workshops with GMA Artist Center so that will allow me to further explore my acting capabilities,” she added.

Although Angela says she is very flexible with taking on any role in any genre, she is very vocal about her preference for action movies as she grew up idolizing Marian Rivera in GMA’s 2009 fantaserye adaptation of Darna.

Lately, she has also expressed her admiration for Cristine Reyes and Anne Curtis in their recent action films, Maria and BuyBust.

“They are so good! I think we need more women in action movies and teleseryes,” she quipped.

It’s no coincidence that she is often being compared to fellow Kapuso actress. Because like Kim, Faye was also under the same management and yes, she too has graced the pages of a popular men’s magazine.

Now being promoted as “the next exciting sexy Kapuso star,” Faye is in the cast of the afternoon teleserye, Madrasta where she plays the role of Joan, a nurse who also happens to be a co-worker and close friend of Audrey played by Arra San Agustin.

Speaking in Filipino, Faye told the Tribune that she’s so overwhelmed with her very first feature for GMA. “Being a newcomer in acting, I’m very humbled that GMA has given me a very good role with a lot of exposure. Since I’m playing Arra’s friend, I’ll be sharing a lot of scenes with her,” she pointed out.

Describing her character as “funny, hardworking and very friendly,” Faye said she considers Madrasta to be a blessing to her as she gets to with a talented cast and a very good director. She’s very excited for audiences to see it “because it’s not just a dramatic show, it also has many comedy moments.”

Despite being pushed along the lines of a Katrina Halili which the network also nurtured, Faye hopes that she can offer more if given the chance as she revealed that she can also sing and dance.

“I can also take on any role but I’d like to play a kontrabida soon and maybe also do action since I’m also athletic and have played basketball when I was still in school,” she offered.

Right now, Faye is also a mainstay of GMA’s long-running gag show, Bubble Gang, which she enjoys doing as work feels a lot like play during their taping sessions.

Among the three ladies, Erin Ocampo is probably the most familiar name and it’s not just because she has been acting since she was 14.

Erin has made headlines in the past for her controversial stint and departure from the group but also because of her previous relationship with singer Michael Pangilinan with whom she has a son. This time, however, she hopes to make waves for the right reasons in her pivotal role as Maica, a headstrong agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement agency in GMA’s Beautiful Justice.

“In my nine years of being in show business, I’ve gone through a lot, many things have happened in my life but I feel I still have a lot to offer,” she confessed.

Erin said she seriously considered quitting entertainment for good as she even took up a culinary arts course in the hopes of pursuing a new career outside the country as a hotel chef.

Being given a new lease in life by GMA, Erin now is out to make the most of what she considers her “last chance” as in addition to Beautiful Justice, she has also appeared in Pepito Manaloto and Magpakailanman.

“I always give my all in every character I portray. I take time to the study my scripts and focus on my scenes. I hope Kapuso viewers will take notice of my role in Beautiful Justice and support me in this series,” she optimistically stated.
