The Philippine National Police- Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) on Thursday revealed that a total of 250 police scalawags were slapped with criminal complaints.
According to data released by the PNP-IMEG, it showed of that total number, 124 policemen were already arrested which include 10 police commissioned officers, 113 police non-commissioned officers and one non-uniformed personnel from the period from February 2017 to 11 September 2019.
The agency noted that of the arrested rogue cops, 82 were involved in extortion, 13 were linked to kidnapping cases, two were involved in illegal drugs and one was involved in slight physical injury.
The PNP-IMEG added that most of the arrested policemen have the ranks of patrolman, corporal and staff sergeant and records also indicated that the remaining 126 complaints filed through regular filing were already referred to the Department of Justice.
These include 13 police commissioned officers and 113 police non-commissioned officers, while criminal complaints were also filed against 224 civilians and members of other law enforcement agencies.
