Bohol Panglao International Airport (BPIA) on Monday welcomed the Royal Air Philippines’ inaugural flight from Hong Kong.
A chartered flight carrying 150 passengers and two infants and manned by three cockpit crew, four cabin attendants and one flight mechanic, it arrived safely at 4:45 in the afternoon.
The flight was welcomed by a water cannon salute, courtesy of the BPIA Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting team.
Royal Air Philippines’ Hong Kong-Bohol-Hong Kong route will fly twice a week Mondays and Fridays.
According to Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Area Manager Rafael Tatlonghari, several international airlines manifested interest in operating at the BPIA, mostly chartered flights from China, Korea and Taiwan.

With Bohol’s booming tourism industry, demand for flights is expected to grow.
The airport, which opens from 6 am to 10 pm, accommodates 17 flights daily from one international and five domestic airlines.
