The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) will actively help the government’s initiative to flood cheap rice in the market to ease the poor’s spending and ensure that there is still enough left for their other spending needs.

PCUP Chairman and CEO Alvin Feliciano is in agreement with Malacañang’s directive to the National Food Authority to strengthen the supply of NFA rice in different markets and stores nationwide.

According to him, through the program “NFA Tagpuan,” poor residents are given enough access to be able to buy rice at a much lower price wherein each family per community was allowed to buy a maximum of five kilos of NFA rice at the price of P27 per kilo.

Chairman Feliciano said that among the ones who benefited from the project are 10,000 residents of the urban poor in relocation sites in Luzon, including Metro Manila.

This PCUP project is in support of the “Zero Hunger” program of the government under President Rodrigo Duterte.
