BAGUIO CITY — The city government is pushing for the beautification and upgrade of the Baguio City Public Market with the cooperation of its main stakeholders, particularly the market vendors.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said Monday it is possible that by next year, Baguio may have the most modern and beautiful market and this could only be realized with the agreement of the market vendors on the development plans, which they will disseminate through dialogues and consultations prior to rehabilitation.
“Can you imagine that with this kind of market building, we will have the most beautiful market probably in the whole of Southeast Asia,” stressed Magalong during the presentation of the development plan by the technical working group.
The market is currently located at the heart of the city and is famous among residents and tourists alike for the wide selection of fresh produce, meat products and pasalubongs unique to Baguio City.
Magalong said that before pursuing such plans, it is important to assess its acceptability among stakeholders.
