Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced Friday the completion of dikes in Barangays Agno and Barangobong – Magallanes ahead of its construction deadline in the fourth quarter of 2019.
A 526-meter protection wall along Agno River was constructed by DPWH Pangasinan Third District Engineering Office in Barangay Agno, Tayug, with a total cost of P18.6 million while a 312-meter dike with protection works was built in Barangay Barangobong-Magallanes for P9.3 million.
Funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act, the projects involve the construction of flood control structure with slope protection, gabions, and mattresses to prevent erosion of soil and prevent flooding in the area.
