Poultry exports to South Korea are expected to pick up after the Korean government accredits the country’s three new poultry manufacturing facilities.

A recent meeting between Agriculture Secretary William Dar and the official delegation from the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs had paved the way for the Korean government to increase shipments of Philippine poultry.

To facilitate the exports, South Korea has sent its audit team to the Philippines to conduct an on-site inspection of the facilities in Davao City, Batangas and La Union. The inspection was organized with the assistance of the National Meat Inspection Service and the Bureau of Animal Industry.

Department of Agriculture said representatives of the three facilities have expressed their interest in applying for accreditation and are looking forward to the inspection.

The accreditation, which is a follow pursuit to the lifting of the temporary suspension of import poultry and pet birds from the Philippines on 4 July 2019, would also lead to the resumption of Philippine duck meat and poultry egg exports to Korea.
