Rising star Alex Eala climbed the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior ranking following an impressive performance in the ITF JA Cape Town Under-18 tournament at the Kelvin Grove Club in the South African capital.
From No. 92, the 14-year-old prodigy is now at No. 26, assuring her a slot in the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open next year.
Eala also became the fourth best Asian female juniors player behind Qinwen Zheng of China, Natsuma Kawaguchi of Japan and Park Soh Yun of South Korea in the ITF world juniors ranking that was released Tuesday.
But Eala’s climb to become the youngest player inside the Top 50 with an impressive 990 ranking points wasn’t a cakewalk.
