Congressional spouses hold painting exhibit

The Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc. (CSFI) and Pintô Art Gallery will hold a fund-raising art exhibition at the South Wing Lobby of the House of Representatives from 23 September to 3 October at 1 p.m.

Dubbed “Pintô sa Kongreso: An Art Appreciation Exhibit,” the event is the first project of the CSFI under the leadership of its new president and chairperson, Taguig City Rep. Lani Cayetano. Proceeds from the exhibit will be for the benefit of the livelihood programs and projects of the CSFI.

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano will be the guest of honor during the exhibit’s opening day.

Congresswoman Cayetano and Dr. Joven Cuanang of Pintô envision an exhibition that generously present contemporary art practice, putting a spotlight on the remarkable Filipino talent, creativity, and imagination.

The show features the works of over 75 artists, who are some of the most well-known names in Philippine visual arts. Working in various media and portraying various themes—from abstract expressions to figurative depictions of everyday life to fantastical representations of surreal imagery—the artists exemplify a commitment of enriching the Filipino culture through works of art that capture the noble spirit of the nation.

Some of the works include “Cantata for Lourdes” by National Artist for Visual Arts H.R. Ocampo, which features his unique brand of abstraction of interlocking, tonally varied shapes; an untitled work by Malang that highlights the bonding between a mother and her children through a colorful palette; an untitled acrylic on paper work by Sanso that depicts his signature blooms juxtaposed with a suggestion of a moon; “Along the Mangroves” by Erwin Leaño that reveals an impressionistic snapshot of a landscape; and “Living Here 2” by Raffy T. Napay that presents a human figure emerging from the woods through the medium of tapestry.

CSFI is a non-stock, non-profit organization composed of the spouses of the members of the House of Representatives. It aims to support the legislative initiatives of the congressmen through the implementation of meaningful socio-civic projects that meet the short-term and long-term needs of their respective constituents.

As a cause-oriented organization, CSFI is committed to support and complement the legislative and public service mandate of the House of Representatives and its members through socio-civic and other developmental initiatives. In collaboration and partnership with government agencies and other like-minded organizations, it harnesses its organizational value in championing the cause of a better quality of life for all Filipinos through service excellence.
