A Nigerian national was killed while his protector was arrested during an operation in Cavite City three days ago.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran identified the deceased suspect as Okoroike Harrison Chibuike, a Nigerian national, and his Filipino companion as Eduard Parcedes Godeloson of Bacoor, Cavite.
According to NBI Deputy Director and spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin, the NBI-CCD conducted the operation last 17 September after they verified information about the illegal activities of certain individuals conducting various online scams targeting Filipinos and using private banking information.
Godeloson introduced himself as a member of the Philippine Army and told the operatives to back out as there was an ongoing operation by their unit. He even told the operatives that there might be misfires that might ensue due to the presence of the agents.
Okoroike was seen by the operatives heading towards the motorcycle of his Filipino cohort to evade the arresting operatives but was told to stop while his companion was arrested, prompting the Nigerian to go upstairs and upon returning firing at the NBI-CCD agents, who fired back and hitting him in the body.
He was brought to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Investigation showed the blank cards the agents recovered were being sold by Eduard to a group of Nigerian individuals for their access device after it was loaded by stolen data’s mainly from unsuspecting credit card holders.
