Two senators have expressed support to a proposed higher budget for the Department of Justice (DoJ) to fund the modernization of the Bureau of Corrections’ (BuCor) records system.
“We will find ways and I am sure that the needed amount will be included in the budget of DOJ and on Monday afternoon, their budget will be deliberated in the Senate, in the committee,” Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon said in a radio interview on Friday.
Meanwhile, Sen. Richard Gordon has vowed to align around P300 to P400 million for the justice department and include this provision in the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“We will implement that and I, personally, will lead the increase of P300 or 400 million in the budget of the Department of Justice. I asked them yesterday the amount they needed, they said roughly, anywhere from P300 to P400 million,” Gordon said.
