Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Thursday revealed that President Rodrigo Duterte has chosen Lt. Gen. Noel Clement as the next Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff.
Clement will replace outgoing AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr., who is set to retire from his post next week.
The lieutenant general currently heads the Central Command of the AFP and prior to his position in the AFP Central Command, Clement led the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division, which has jurisdiction over Davao Region, Duterte’s home province.
