Authorities have found dead pigs floating in a river in Marikina City Thursday morning.
According to the Marikina City Veterinary Office, a total of 16 dead pigs were found floating in the river along Bayabas Street in Barangay Nangka.
Some of the pigs were trapped because of the garbage while others have been swept away by strong current.
“As of 2 p.m., there were 16 carcass carried away by the current from the site (Bayabas Street in Barangay Nangka),” the city veterinary office said.
It added that the dead pigs have already been buried.

Meanwhile, the local government of Marikina City has asked the Department of Agriculture to probe on the dead pigs found floating in Marikina River.
Two other pigs were found in Barangay Tumana and while 24 were discovered in Barangay Kalumpang.
“There is no slaughterhouse or piggery in Marikina. The dead pigs could have been from the upstream of Rizal,” Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said.
