Palay (rice grain) prices currently range between P12 and P13, not P7, an official of the National Food Authority (NFA) clarified on Sunday.
“Nasa P12 and P13 na presyuhan kada kilo ng palay ay hindi naman po talaga ideal,” NFA administrator Judy Carol Dansal said in a radio interview, clarifying claims supposedly by farmers that their palay is bought at P7 per kilo.
Dansal belied the claims of Central Luzon farmers, who blame the rice tarrfication law for the drop in palay prices following the surge of rice imports in the country.
She added that the public must give the law a chance and that the NFA is currently adding more stations that will buy local palay from the farmers.
