In just 24 hours following the release of Taylor Swift’s newesr album, Lover, it’s already become this year’s highest selling album in the US.
Lover also scored “the biggest first-week total for any album since her own Reputation in 2017,” according to Billboard.
Globally, Lover has surpassed more than three million in consumption, topping the No.1 spot in US, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the UK and made history as China’s most consumed full-length international album of 2019.
Swift now had the highest debut for any international artist for their first week full-length album consumption – more than doubling the previous record.
Her two previous studio albums, 1989 and Reputation were also both certified for more than one million albums consumed in China, although not in such a short time frame as Lover.

In the US alone, Lover has eclipsed a million-plus total consumption year-to-date and is approaching 700k in pure album sales this week.
“Taylor’s brilliant body of work has shattered industry metrics around the world. I is clearly her most acclaimed album to date. Her honesty and vulnerability poured into this album has created a masterpiece,” said Republic Records Founder & CEO Monte Lipman.
This also marks the first time that a Taylor swift album was available to stream on all platforms during its release week. When she released Reputation on November 2017, Swift waited three weeks before making it available to stream in order to monetize physical and download sales.
Swift has also reached the No.1 spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100 Songwriters chart with a trio of songwriting entries including, “You Need to Calm Down.” “Lover and “ME!,” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. (Discover Music)
