The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced yesterday the arrest of a Jordanian national in Davao City for allegedly beating his Filipina wife and working in the country without a permit.
According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, the arrested Jordanian national was identified as Kamal Isam Abu Beih, 39-years-old. Abu Beih was arrested after his wife filed a complaint against him for physically assaulting her two months ago.
BI Intelligence Division Acting Chief Fortunato Manahan said that during the operation, the arresting officers were armed with a mission order issued and signed by Commissioner Morente.
According to Manahan, the victim narrated how her husband continued to threaten and harass her at the police headquarters where she reported the incident and filed a complaint against Abu Beih.
“We cannot allow undesirable aliens to physically harm and trample on the dignity of our Filipino women. His name will be also put on the BI Blacklist so that he could not re-enter the country,’ Manahan said.

BI Intelligence Officer Melody Gonzales, head of the BI-MITG, reported that the Jordanian was also engaged in gainful activity without the proper visa as it was found that he owned and operated a shawarma business at the Roxas night market in the city.
