The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Friday reported that 10 Chinese tourists were rescued by coast guards in Bohol on Thursday afternoon after the engine of their boat stalled in Balicasag Island.
PCG personnel received a distress call from the boat about 5:20 p.m. and immediately sailed to the location of the tourists and rescued them, according to PCG spokesman Captain Armand Balilo.
Lt. JG Michael John Encina, PCG Central Visayas spokesman, said they also launched a search-and-rescue operation after receiving a distress call around 7:15 p.m.
The Chinese nationals were then brought to Tagbilaran port.
The motorbanca “Go Deep Diving and Tours” came from Sumilon Island in Cebu and was on its way back to Panglao Island when it stalled.
Those rescued were identified as Bella Liu, 35; Zhou Cian, 36; Lu Yin, 36; Li Xeng Ji, 33; Zhang Qian, 33; Liu Yu, 36; Wu Si Liang, 30; Sui Yu Cing, 28; Cai Chung, 35; and Ke Wei, 35.
