The Manila Police District (MPD) has lauded a police officer on Monday for arresting a hold-upper known for targeting taxis in Parañaque City.
According to MPD Patrolman Mark Joseph O. Ratay, who is assigned at MPD Police Station 3 Sta. Cruz Police Station, he was able to catch the suspect during his off-duty.
Despite being off-duty and being out of his area of responsibility, Ratay immediately responded as a police officer when he witnessed a taxi driver chasing a man who was identified as a hold-upper.
MPD revealed that the said hold-upper specifically targets taxis and pretend to be a passenger as part of his modus operandi.
Recovered were the cellphone owned by the taxi driver and a knife used in committing crimes.
The suspect was already brought to the Parañaque Police Station for the filing of cases.
“Congratulations! Indeed a job well done,” MPD said.
