Hounded by poor shooting, Gilas Pilipinas lost to Australia’s Adelaide 36ers, 75-85, in the second and last of their friendly match late Sunday at the Meralco gym in Pasig City.
Naturalized player Andray Blatche had a dismal shooting performance that allowed the Australians to leave the country with a 1-1 card in their head-to-head showdown.
Blatche delivered 16 points, six rebounds and five assists while Kiefer Ravena had 11 markers for the Filipinos, who are using the friendly as a tune-up for the FIBA Basketball World Cup in China next week.
Daniel Johnson delivered 16 points while Jack McVeigh and Brendan Tyes chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the 36ers, who led by as many as 21 points before wrapping up the impressive win.
The Filipinos converted only 26 out of its 65 attempts from the field while making only six of their 23 tries from the rainbow territory.

Still, Guiao was thankful for the opportunity.
“We’re very thankful to the Adelaide 36ers for the opportunity to play with them. At least we can now make some adjustments as we head to the World Cup,” said Guiao.
“Even if we lost this game, we still felt that there are a lot of positives that we can bring to the World Cup.”
