A man, who was tagged by his common-law wife as a drug user, was killed in his own bedroom in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, authorities reported late Friday evening.

PO2 Randy Lozada identified the victim as Renato Baculao.

Lozada said Baculao was asleep in his shanty at around 10:45 p.m. when two men — one wearing a helmet and the other a bonnet — barged in the room and shot him several times.

He said witnesses revealed two more men were waiting outside Baculao’s shanty on board two motorcycles and believed to be serving as lookouts.

The victim died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body, from .9 mm caliber bullets.

Lozada said Baculao’s wife told the police the victim was a drug user for some time which could be the reason why he was killed.

However, the police said they are still looking into the possibility of a personal grudge as a motive since Balucao was involved in a feud with a neighbor during the New Year revelry.
