A Swede national wanted in his country for a string of large-scale fraud and swindling cases has been arrested and is now facing deportation, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced yesterday.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said operatives of the BI-Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) together with the Philippine National Police Regional Intelligence Division (PNP-RID) Region 6 nabbed the suspect, Kenneth Tobias Christoffer Moberg, 28, last Monday at his home in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, San Enrique, Iloilo.
Moberg was immediately transferred to the BI detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City where he will await his summary deportation order.
Morente issued the mission order for Moberg’s arrest upon the request of the Bangkok-based Nordic Police and Customs Cooperation which informed the Bureau, that the fugitive is the subject of a red notice from Interpol.
Moberg was reportedly issued an arrest warrant by a Swedish court due to his involvement in multiple criminal offenses including gross fraud, attempted fraud and unlawful use of identity. He became an overstaying and undocumented alien after the Swedish government revoked his passport.
The Bureau added that Moberg had hidden in the country since 23 May 2018 when he last arrived as a tourist and did not even bother to extend his stay since then.
Moberg will be deported upon issuance of a summary deportation order from the immigration Board of Commissioners and he will be included in the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the country for being an undesirable alien.
Meanwhile, an entrapment operation by BI-FSDU operatives and Korean Interpol agents in Caloocan City yesterday resulted in the arrest of the Korean fugitive Lee Yun Sung who is also hiding in the country.
Sung was immediately brought to the BI main office in Intramuros Manila for proper inquest proceedings.
