China-based global solar energy solutions provider Trina Solar has completed the delivery of 61,200 solar panels for the Tarlac-2 Solar Power Project of PetroSolar Corporation (PetroSolar).
This continuing government support is critical as we complete Tarlac-2 to become the first utility-scale solar project to be commissioned in the Philippines this year
PetroSolar serves as a joint venture between PetroGreen Energy Corporation, the renewable energy unit of publicly-listed PetroEnergy Resources Corporation and construction company EEI Power Corporation.
In a disclosure to the stock exchange, PetroEnergy said that the Trina Solar Tallmax TSM PD14A model panels are equipped with special reflecting film technology, enabling more light to be reflected back into the solar cell for enhanced energy absorption and electricity generation.
The models were manufactured in Trina Solar’s factory in Changzhou, China.

“The Philippine solar industry has tremendous room for development. We will continue to further expand our commitment to support renewable energy in the Philippines,” Trina Solar Philippines country manager Junrhey Castro said.
The Tarlac-2 Solar Power Project is a 20.4-megawatt solar power facility currently in construction inside a 22-hectare land in Central Technopark, Tarlac City.
The Bureau of Investments awarded PetroSolar a certificate of registration for the project on 17 September last year.
The project is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2019, and will add to the adjoining 50MWDC Tarlac-1 solar plant to make PetroSolar’s 70MWDC Tarlac facility the “single, biggest contiguous operating solar farm in Luzon.”
Meanwhile, local renewable energy company Solenergy Systems Inc. serves as the engineering, procurement and construction management services provider for the project.
“The milestone and seamless delivery also owes to the support that our project has received from several government agencies dealing with our importation such as the Department of Energy, the Board of Investments, the Bureau of Customs and the Subic Bay Management Authority,” PetroSolar vice president Francisco Delfin Jr. said.
“This continuing government support is critical as we complete Tarlac-2 to become the first utility-scale solar project to be commissioned in the Philippines this year.”
