The controversial Chinese woman who splashed taho (soybean curd) on a police officer at the MRT-3 Boni station was indicted yesterday by a Mandaluyong City prosecutor for direct assault on an agent of a person in authority.
Zhang Jiale, 23, was recommended to be charged in court for violation of Article 148 of the Revised Penal Code, according to Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Leynard Dumlao.
If found guilty, Zhang faces imprisonment of up to six years for the assault on Police Officer 1 William Cristobal who, on Monday, was given an award by the Philippine National Police.
The complaint for unjust vexation, on the other hand, was dismissed because it is a “necessary consequence” of the assault and is “deemed absorbed” in the charge for direct assault.
The resolution was approved by City Prosecutor Bernabe Augustus Solis.
