The ship carrying 51 containers of trash shipped to the Philippines in July reached South Korea on Sunday.
The M/V Spectrum carrying 1,400 tons of wastes docked at the Pyeongtaek Container Terminal at 9:03 A.M., according to the port’s website. It left the Philippines on 14 January.
The shipment is part of the 6,500 tons of used plastic bottle, straws, gloves, shower hose, utensils and styrofoams that were shipped to Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental in July and October last year.
Meanwhile, the local government and environmental groups called for the urgent re-export of the entire waste shipment. The South Korean government has agreed to retrieve the garbage.
