In the latest meme called the “10-year challenge” circulating on Facebook, users post two photos of themselves side-by-side, one shot in 2009 and the other shot this year. While it is supposed to show how one has aged in the last 10 years, many who posted their photos tried to look their best at present as in to be as young as a decade ago. Some were successful after getting compliments that they never aged a bit or still looked as young as before.

For others who wanted to be in on the social media fad but can’t hide the wrinkles or warping of their face, Photoshopped portraits may have been used to cheat on the challenge.

So far, nothing seems to beat the meme of former Manila 4th District congresswoman Tricia Bonoan-David. A netizen posted Bonoan’s face printed on a tarp she used as her campaign poster in the 2009 elections and her current campaign material for the upcoming voting. The faces are the same, so she didn’t look any older.

The meme even included the lawmaker’s election tarps from 2010 to 2018 that also featured her face. But there was no sign of aging either in the faces which were the same as in the 2009 and 2019 campaign tarps.

By using only one picture of herself in all her promotional tarps every year, Bonoan wittingly survived the 10-year challenge. With no need for new photos, she must have also saved a lot in pictorial expense.
